Our Story

Established in 1980 by Frederick U. Fierst and Kenneth Neiman as “Fierst & Neiman,” the firm started as a general practice. In the late 1980s, the firm began its vibrant entertainment law practice by undertaking the representation of Mirage Studios, the creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

In the 1990s, the firm developed an outstanding reputation in the worldwide entertainment and licensing industries through Fred Fierst’s continued representation of Mirage, as well as representation of other high profile entertainment clients throughout the world. Ken Neiman left the firm to become a United States Magistrate Judge in 1994. The firm’s reputation for excellence in litigation was strengthened with the addition of the then chief of the local US Attorneys Office Jeffrey Kinder in 1999. Jonathan J. Kane became Of Counsel to the firm in 2001, and became a partner in 2005 developing the firm’s business and housing court practice to one of the most recognized in Western Massachusetts. Hun Ohm joined the firm as a transactional and intellectual property associate in 2006, the same year Jeff Kinder left the firm to accept a Massachusetts Superior Court judgeship.  Judge Kinder now sits on the Massachusetts Appeals Court.

In 2012, Hun Ohm became a partner in the firm, focusing on entertainment deals and trademark, copyright and other intellectual property-related matters, and David Bloomberg joined as a partner, bringing his outstanding real estate, banking and secured finance practice to the firm, and a name change to “Fierst, Kane & Bloomberg LLP”. Susan Cooper joined the firm in an Of Counsel capacity in 2014.  She focuses on business, corporate, tax credit, and employment matters. Susan became a partner in 2021. Nicholas Grimaldi joined the firm as Of Counsel to the firm in 2014, adding transactional, business and litigation experience. Nick was made a partner in January of 2019.

Daniel Fierst joined the firm in 2015 after serving as in-house counsel for a worldwide video game company and became a partner in 2022.  Dan’s focus is primarily on entertainment law transactions. Peter Lane joined the firm in an Of Counsel capacity in 2017 and became a partner in 2023.  Peter’s practice is concentrated in litigation in all courts, including landlord/tenant matters. Mae Stiles joined the firm in an Of Counsel capacity in 2019 and became a partner in 2023.  Mae focuses her practice on business counseling, general and intellectual property litigation. Also in 2019, we celebrated Jon Kane’s confirmation as a Housing Court judge, marking the end of his 18 years with the firm, and bringing a name change to the firm, now known as “Fierst Bloomberg Ohm LLP.” Jeffrey M. Siegel joined the firm in 2022 to provide the same level of high-end counsel to our estate planning and probate administration department. Sadie A. Reynolds joined the firm in 2023 as an associate in the housing and litigation departments.
